About Us

We are a gallery in Enderby, BC

Who We Are

History

In 2012 a group of local artists came together with the vision of forming an art gallery in Enderby. With some fundraising and a start-up grant of $3000 from the Enderby and District Arts Council the newly formed Enderby Artists’ Initiative opened the doors of the Courtyard Gallery in April of 2013. In 2020 the Courtyard Gallery ceased to operate under the Enderby Artists’ Initiative as a result of a merger with the Enderby and District Arts Council (EDAC) and now operates as a permanent standing committee of EDAC.

Purpose

The purpose of the Courtyard Gallery is to operate, on a nonprofit basis, an artist run gallery which provides opportunity for local artists to exhibit and sell their works.

We are an eclectic group, as you will see in our gallery. We display paintings in a variety of media; handcrafted jewelry; pottery; wood carvings; sculptures; weaving, books, and fibre art fabrics and apparel; as well as a variety of gift items.

Goals

This nonprofit, co-operative gallery aims to showcase the work of local artists and reach out to the community with workshops and exhibitions, as well as participate in local arts festivals.

EDAC

February 1, 2020 marked the official merger of the Enderby and District Arts Council with the Enderby Artists Initiative (Courtyard Gallery).

The revitalized Enderby and District Arts Council and Courtyard Gallery continue to bring to the people of Enderby and District the art experiences that they have come to expect.

EDAC has moved it’s office to 617 Cliff Avenue, Enderby, BC.

As a member of Enderby & District Arts Council, the Courtyard Gallery supports the future Community Art Centre.

You can find more info about the arts council at enderbyartscouncil.ca .

    Our Studios

In order to get to know the Courtyard Gallery artists, we are introducing a Blog called Our Studios which we will be implementing throughout the year. The reader will see where they work, what inspires them, their routines, such things as their favourite music as they work and interesting tidbits.  We hope you enjoy this insight into our artists.
